Insulation layer: Hollow cylinder formed layer consisting of a dielectric material or material combination. Insulation layer is the most important component of the cable.

Oil filled paper insulated cable: High-voltage power cable in which the paper insulation is impregnated with mineral oil under pressure.

Overhead line: Structure used in electric power transmission and distribution to transmit electrical energy along large distances.

 

Partial discharge: Localised dielectric breakdown of a small portion of a solid or fluid electrical insulation system under high voltage stress, which does not bridge the space between two conductors.

Power Distribution: Transfer of electricity from the transmission system to the consumers.

Power Transmission: Bulk transfer of electrical energy, from generating power plants to electrical substations located near demand centers.
